HANNAH
GLIDES TO AWARD
Cadet Corporal Hannah Heywood-Taala, aged 17,
of 2200 (Oldham) Squadron Air Training Corps has successfully
completed an Air Cadet gliding scholarship. She successfully
attended a training course at the Volunteer Gliding Squadron at
Salmesbury, near Preston.
“The course was
intensive but really exciting.” Said Hannah. “I hope to go on to
complete a Flying Scholarship in the near future.”
“Flying and gliding
are integral parts of cadet life and are the most popular activities
inthe Air Training Corps” said Flight Lieutenant Mike Holroyd,
Officer Commanding 2200 Squadron, adding: “Hannah is a hard working
and consciencous cadet who deserves this success.”
Hannah attends Bury Collage, where she is studying A levels in
Sociology, Psychology and English Language as well as undertaking a
BTEC certificate in Music. She hopes to join the Royal Air Force as
a Weapons Systems Officer.
CADET GAINS BTEC CERTIFICATE
A local cadet has
earned an award from the Business and Technology Education Council
(BTEC).
Cadet Corporal
Christopher Hall, 16, of 2200 (Oldham) Squadron, Air Training Corps,
has been awarded a BTEC Certificate in Public Services. In order to
achieve this, Chris studied a range of subjects such as Uniformed
Services and the National Health Service. BTEC awards are also
available in Aviation Studies and Music. Christopher passed the
Award with a Distinction.
“This is auseful
qualification to have” said Chris “particularly as it is the
equivalentof 4 GCSE A*'s. I have enjoyed studying the subjects
involved as they havebeen so varied.”
Flight Lieutenant
Mike Holroyd, Officer in Charge of the squadron said: “The BTEC
Awards have only recently been introduced into the Corps Curriculum,
but have proved to be successful nationally and locally. Chris has
worked hard for this Award, and deserves his success.”
Chris attends Oldham
Sixth Form College where he is studying A levels in Mathematics,
Physics and Geography. He hopes to become a commercial
pilot. |
