February's News from 2200 (Oldham) Squadron
Air Cadets Jordan Crowther, Matthew Howarth and Connor Povey-Hillan, Alexander
Richards, (all 14), members of 2200 (Oldham) Squadron Air Training
Corps, have
successfully completed trials and have represented East Lancashire Wing Air
Training Corps at rugby. This entitles them to wear the coveted
“Wing Blue” on their cadet sports kits in recognition of
their achievement. In addition, Alexander and Jordan have also been
selected to represent the North Region ATC at
rugby.
Jordan, Michael and
Alexander, joined the squadron six months ago, whereas. Connor has
been in the Squadron for only 3 months. Connor said:” I really did
not expect to be selected to represent the Wing especially as I have
only been with the Squadron for a short time. I joined the air
cadets as I had heard that a variety of activities and sports are
available”
Alexander and Jordan
are no strangers to sporting success as they represented East
Lancashire Wing at football last year. Alexander has also
represented North Region ATC at football.
Flying Officer Mike
Holroyd, Officer in Charge of the Squadron said: “Everyone in the
Squadron is thrilled for these cadets. This achievement is amazing,
especially for Connor considering he has been with the squadron for
such a short time. We are very proud of them.”
